SU Again Featured Among 'Colleges of Distinction'

2011 Colleges of DistinctionSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University has been selected as a 2011-2012 College of Distinction.

“Salisbury provides students with the highest level of undergraduate education and continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Four Distinctions,” said founder Wes Creel.  Those distinctions include Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Communities and Successful Outcomes.

“I’m pleased that Salisbury University continues to be recognized among Colleges of Distinction nationwide,” said President Janet Dudley-Eshbach. “Our students benefit from exceptional academic programs, with opportunities for research and internships, study abroad and civic engagement. The University’s outstanding faculty consistently earn Fulbright Fellowships and state and national teaching awards. SU’s selection reaffirms its reputation as A Maryland University of National Distinction."

Started 10 years ago, the Colleges of Distinction Web site helps young people, their families and their counselors find colleges that are right for them. According to Creel, only “the best and the brightest” campuses are included, places where students “can grown and learn how to succeed for the rest of their lives.”

Earlier this fall, for the 15th consecutive year, SU was named one of U.S. News & World Report’s Top Public Regional Universities in the North (the only Maryland campus on that list). For the 13th consecutive year, SU also was among The Princeton Review’s Best 376 Colleges.  The campus also garners kudos as a Kiplinger’s Top 100 “Best Values” in public colleges.

This year’s Colleges of Distinction e-Guidebook will be available to the public through Amazon.com. Some 25,000 counselors nationwide will also receive an electronic copy.
