SSU Students Attend Nursing Conference

SALISBURY, MD---Twenty-two students and two faculty members from Salisbury State University's Department of Nursing recently attended the Maryland Association of Nursing Students (MANS) convention in Annapolis. They were greeted by guest speaker Delegate Addie Eckardt and former MANS President Beth Helfrich, a May 1999 SSU graduate who is employed as a clinical nurse at National Institutes of Health.

Senior students from Maryland attending the convention included: Jennifer Tipton of Severna Park, Jamie Reidy of La Plata, Lori Morsberger of Finksburg, Kristin Bradshaw of Berlin, Michelle Elassal of Salisbury, Christina Harris of Baltimore, and Noelle Reed of Forest Hill.

Senior students from New Jersey included: Colleen Pierce of Mount Laurel, Katie Memmo of Medford, and Meredith McCue of Brick.

Other senior students were Angela Thorton of Hallwood, VA, and Trista Chanowski of New Castle, DE.

Junior students from Maryland included: Katie Cecil of Frederick, Jennifer Burkley of Bel Air, Rebecca Duvall of Monrovia, Eileen Hawley of Gaithersburg, Marcia Neild of Cambridge, Melissa Citrano of Whiteford, Erica Schwartz of Hebron, and Suzanne Graf of Annapolis.

Junior students from New Jersey were Kim Romano of Morris Plains, and Sonja Benn of Annandale.

Dr. Elizabeth Rankin and Professor Susan Battistoni represented the SSU Nursing faculty.

During the convention, Benn was elected chair of the public relations committee for MANS. MANS is a state-wide organization that brings together student representatives from baccalaureate and associate degree nursing education programs to discuss issues of interest to the profession.
