Robert Rauschenberg Photographs Exhibited Through Feb. 6

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University hosts an exhibit of photographs from world renowned artist Robert Rauschenberg through Feb. 6 in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall. The exhibit is titled “Robert Rauschenberg: Studies for Chinese Summerhall.”

Photographs on display are of China taken during the artist’s Rauschenberg Overseas Culture Interchange (ROCI) project from 1985 to 1991. The images of everyday life illustrate Chinese tradition, aesthetics, politics, history and religion.

Rauschenberg is a contemporary artist whose studies have taken him from North Carolina to Paris. His work includes silkscreen painting, sculpture, and photography. His “combines” are a form of art that combines painting and sculpture. His works have been exhibited in the National Gallery of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C., and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. The exhibit is free and the public is invited.
