Researching Our Roots: History and Genealogy, Feb. 12

SALISBURY, MD--- The lecture “Researching Our Roots: History and Genealogy” will be presented at Salisbury University’s Nabb Research Center on Tuesday, February 12, at 7 p.m. in celebration of Black History Month. The presentation will focus on research techniques for African-Americans to uncover their family histories.

The lecturers will be Dr. Clara L. Small and Rev. David Briddell who will also discuss their ongoing work on a history of African-Americans on the Eastern Shore utilizing oral history, official documents and other sources.

Small is a professor of history at Salisbury University where she has been teaching since 1977. She received her doctoral degree in history at the University of Delaware and specializes in United States, colonial and African-American history. Briddell, of Englewood, NJ, is a Worcester County native who has traveled extensively throughout the world in his role as the director of intermedia for the National Council of Churches. Most recently, Briddell worked as a consultant to the World Division of the Board of Global Ministries of the United
Methodist Churches.
