Nabb Center Presents 'Reconnecting With Your Roots'

SALISBURY, MD---Ever wonder what is in those old dust-covered boxes in the attic or who that unique, cobweb-covered side board belonged to?  Who was that mysterious great aunt everyone in the family talked about in hushed tones or with pursed lips?

Ever inherit a family Bible only to find clippings and obituaries of long deceased unknowns?  Or opened a camel back trunk and discovered a trove of 19th century faces staring at you—all nameless?

All this and much more was brought to light of day when Becky Miller, director of the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University and Dr. G. Ray Thompson, professor of history and co-founder of the Nabb Research Center, opened up the "can of worms" that is family history during a joint presentation for the Wicomico County Free Library’s “A 50+ Forum” titled “Reconnecting With Your Roots.”

Miller and Thompson compiled a suggested bibliography of monographs and Web sites for the participants to whet their appetites for further research into family origins. They also entertained the audience with personal stories of how they developed an interest in family history and the process by which they acquired the necessary skills for research.     For more information call 410-543-6312 or visit the Nabb Research Center Web site at "
