Mathematical Modeling Subject of  Presentation " 

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury State University faculty members, Dr. Donald Cathcart, provost, and Dr. Robert Tardiff, associate Dean of the Henson School of Science and Technology, recently presented "Stella and Mathematical Modeling" to the annual conference of the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

The presentation discussed issues in teaching mathematical modeling at the secondary level and how students might use the software package Stella to actually run and analyze their models on computers. Cathcart and Tardiff also demonstrated how using a software package such as Stella can lead to ridiculous results if users don’t fully understand the models or software.
