Jazz Ambassadors Perform at SU December 10

The Jazz AmbassadorsSALISBURY, MD---The Jazz Ambassadors, the United States Army’s premier jazz orchestra, perform at Salisbury University 7 p.m. Sunday, December 10, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. The concert is part of the 19-member big band’s “Home for the Holidays” tour.

Formed in 1960, the Jazz Ambassadors have received acclaim playing America's original art form, jazz. Featuring gifted soloists, their diverse repertoire includes swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, pop tunes, Dixieland and patriotic selections.

The orchestra has appeared in all 50 states and abroad including Canada, Mexico, Japan, India and Europe. It has performed at international jazz festivals in Switzerland and the Netherlands and played in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. The band has also been featured in joint concerts with major orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony.

Sponsored by Office of Cultural Affairs and Public Radio Delmarva, WSCL FM and WSDL FM, the concert is free and the public is invited.
