Immigration on Delmarva Colloquium March 1

SALISBURY, MD---"Immigration on Delmarva: A Fulton School of Liberal Arts Colloquium,@ is being held Thursday, March 1, from 3:30-5:30 p.m., in the Worcester Room of the Commons at Salisbury State University.  Admission is free and the public is invited.  

The program will consist of a panel of seven people from a range of backgrounds each making brief presentations, followed by more open-ended dialogue and question and answer among the panelists and audience.  

The speakers are Dr. Ana Maria Aragones, SSU visiting Fulbright Scholar from The National Autonomous University of Mexico; Dr. Mark Miller, University of Delaware, Department of Political Science; Dr. George Shiver, Washington College, Spanish Department; Carmen Pratt, staff member, Congressman Wayne Gilchrest's Office; Albert Snyder, Immigration Attorney, Salisbury State University; Larry Worthington, executive director, Maryland Governor's Commission on Migratory and Seasonal Farm Labor;  Loni Moyer, director of SSU's Bilingual Education Program; and Leila Krause, Catholic Charities in Salisbury and Georgetown.  

"This event is part a broader effort to engage Salisbury State University in the emerging reality of immigration in the region and related community service," said Dr. Tim Dunn, SSU Department of Sociology and colloquium organizer. "We hope to follow it up with more steps in the future."
