Haydn Trio Eisenstadt Performs at SU Tuesday, May 16

SALISBURY, MD---One of Austria’s leading chamber ensembles, Haydn Trio Eisenstadt, comes to Salisbury University during its week-long U.S. tour 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16. A part of World Artist Experience’s SU Concert Series, the performance is in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

The program includes Haydn’s Trio in D Major XV/16, Mozart’s Trio in C Major KV 548, Wagner’s Trio Nr. 3 and Beethoven’s Trio in E Flat Major, Op. 70/2.

Founded in 1992, Haydn Trio Eisenstadt celebrates the lives of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ingeborg Bachmann during its 2006 season with tributes to those musicians at the Musikverein in Vienna. The trio also continues its exclusive concert series at the annual Haydn Festival in Burgenland.

In addition to regular concerts in Austria, the Haydn Trio Eisenstadt has performed in Germany, Italy, France, England, Ireland, Hungary, Israel, Turkey and Switzerland. The ensemble has played at music festivals worldwide including the Klangbogen Festival in Vienna, the Haydn Biennale Vlaanderen in Belgium, the Venyssel Festival in Denmark, the Pushkin Museum in Moscow and the Haydn Festival in Japan.

The trio is recording eight CDs with all 40 piano trios by Joseph Haydn. No. 7, released in September 2005, was highly acclaimed by critics. The trio also is working on the first complete recorded compilation of more than 400 Scottish, Welsh and Irish folksongs Haydn arranged between 1791 and 1804.
