Entrepreneurial Seminars at Chesapeake College, SU

SALISBURY, MD---The Small Business Development Center (SBDC), an outreach program of Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University sponsors “How to Start and Manage Your Own Business." This all-day course is geared to help new or potential business owners understand concepts vital to start-up success by covering six critical business areas. Two sessions will be held in October.  The first session, co-sponsored by the SBDC and Chesapeake College is Thursday, October 21, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in Room AUD-01 of the Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, MD.  The second is Friday, October 22, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Commons of Salisbury University. Using a provided business plan template a business counselor discusses the importance and basics of writing a business plan. An insurance specialist will help determine insurance needs. An attorney provides information on forming a corporation, and legal reasons to use different types of business structures. A marketing expert shares marketing plan ideas and examples of proven marketing techniques. A banker covers obtaining financing from any financial institution and developing a positive relationship with a bank. An accountant discusses different types of bookkeeping methods and accurate record keeping. This wonderful opportunity to obtain a wealth of information from these professionals is all in one day for one low price. This class is held each month at one of the SBDC Eastern Region locations.
