Child Safety Seat Check Today at Fruitland Wal-Mart

SALISBURY, MD---The Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy sponsors a child safety seat check on Friday, December 7, from 3-6 p.m. at the Fruitland Wal-Mart

The safety check, part of the 32-hour course requirement recognized by the National Highway Safety Administration, covers crash dynamics, basics of injury prevention, seat belt systems and the fundamentals of installing child seats. The entry-level officers must successfully complete a skills and written examination on the proper installation of child safety seats. The Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy is the first regional training program that has made the class mandatory for students.

Chris Byrnes, director of Salisbury University’s Regional Safe Communities and certified as a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Instructor, is coordinating the event.
