Author Gary Fincke is Next Writer-on-the-Shore April 21

SALISBURY, MD---Award-winning fiction writer Gary Fincke is the next speaker in Salisbury University’s Writers-on-the-Shore Series 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons. An English and creative writing professor at Susquehanna University, Fincke has published 18 books, including his latest, Sorry I Worried You, a series of short stories from the University of Georgia Press, which won the 2004 Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. Also in 2004, he released Amp’d: A Father’s Backstage Pass, a non-fiction account of his son’s life as a rock ’n’ roll artist. The director of Susquehanna’s Writers’ Institute, his works have been featured in more than 100 publications. His poems have seen print in Harper’s, Prairie Schooner and The American Literary Review among others. His fiction has appeared in Newsday and The Seattle Review. National Public Radio has quoted from his essays. Fincke’s For Keepsies was nominated for a National Book Award in 1993. The book earned the Faulkner Award, Los Angeles Times Book Prize and National Book Critics Circle Award. He also is a multiple Pushcart Prize winner and syndicated columnist with Scripps Howard News Service. His reading is free and the public is invited.
