SSO Featured in Toast the Coast 2000 Celebration

SALISBURY, MD--The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury State University performs in concert with guest divas Lynn Anderson, Judy Collins and Melba Moore at Toast the Coast 2000, a millennium event on December 31, 1999 in Lewes, DE.

Among Andersons eight No. 1 hits are Cry, Top of the World, Youre My Man and (I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden; 18 more made the Top 10. She has received the Country Female Artist of the Decade Award and a Grammy for Rose Garden in 1971.

Some of Collins signature songs include Both Sides Now, Amazing Grace, Send in the Clowns and Suzanne. She has 24 albums to her credit including six Gold.

Moore, with 14 albums and two Grammy nominations, is perhaps best know by her music fans for her hit single This Is It. Her stage credits include Diotine from Hair, Lutiebelle from Purlie (for which she won a Tony Award) and Fantine in Les Miserables.

Caterer for the event is 1776.

The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at SSU is composed of 55 area musicians under the baton of Dr. Thomas Elliot, a professor of music at Salisbury State. Now in its 11th year, the SSO performs its next concert on December 12 in Holloway Hall Auditorium on the SSU campus.
