Student Art, B.F.A. Shows Highlight SU Works

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University presents its 40th biannual Senior Art Show from April 10-24 in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall.

A closing reception is 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 24. A President’s Award presentation is 7 p.m.
Titled “The Night of the Living Artists,” a twist on The Night of the Living Dead, the show represents the culmination of an undergraduate art major’s college career. The show’s organization takes at least a semester to develop and execute.

“The theme was chosen when talking about how hard it is for our generation to graduate in a time when the economy does not lend itself to our favor,” said show promoter and art student Meghan Janiszewski. “Trying to get a job after graduation is so terrifying that it is like being in a horror show. We decided this would be a way to make light of an unfortunate situation.”

The exhibit brings together art majors from all artistic areas, including painting, glass blowing, sculpture, ceramics, new media, drawing, photography and graphic arts.
A new media exhibit held in connection with the senior exhibit is April 13-May 22 at the Electronic Gallery in SU’s new Teacher Education and Technology Center. A separate B.F.A. student exhibit hangs in the University Gallery from May 1-15.

University Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Electronic Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

Sponsored by the Art Department and Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, the exhibits are free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6270 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
