PMG Hosts Outreach Initiative Luncheon March 30

SALISBURY, MD---The Project Management Group (PMG) of Salisbury State University hosts a luncheon, "Bienvenidos a Delmarva," on Monday, April 9, from noon-2 p.m. to discuss outreach initiatives for the Hispanic and Latino communities on Delmarva. Seats must be reserved by Friday, March 30.

Attendees are urged to share their involvement in outreach to immigrant communities, future interests and where gaps exist in current outreach and assistance programs.

The PMG has begun work on two outreach programs to assist with the business, economic and community development needs of the Hispanic and Latino communities in our region. Many people and organizations in the region are already reaching out to this population, said Dr. Memo Diriker, project director.

Carmen Pratt of Congressman Wayne Gilchrest's office said that out of the U.S. population of 281 million, 28.4 million are foreign born and 51% of the foreign born are Hispanic. The second fastest growing segment of the population after Asians and the fastest growing segment on Delmarva are Hispanics.

The group realizes that SSU is already a valuable partner to these outreach entities. However, the next step in this partnership may be to compile a database of all such programs and possibly become the center of information for such activities.
