Poet Malena Mörling Continues Writers-on-the-Shore Series November 7

Malena MorlingSALISBURY, MD---With her poetry collection Ocean Avenue, Malena Mörling captures individual, solitary consciousness and other feelings “in a very pure way,” said The Washington Post.

Reading from her most recent collection, Astoria (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2006), Mörling is the next author in Salisbury University’s Writers-on-the-Shore Series 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons.

Ocean Avenue was selected by Philip Levine for the New Issues Poetry Prize. Her works have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times Book Review, New Republic, Washington Post Book World, Ploughshares, New England Review and Five Points. An assistant professor of creative writing at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, she also has translated works by the Swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer, a selection of which appears in the collection For the Living and the Dead.
