Artists Sought For Annual Sea Gull Century Art Contest

SALISBURY, MD---The annual Sea Gull Century print is a tradition almost as revered as the Century bike ride itself. Salisbury University invites artists to enter their designs for the 2006 print during the second annual Sea Gull Century Art Contest.

The winning print will be reproduced and sold during the 18th annual Sea Gull Century on October 7 and be used in promotional materials prior to the ride. The original painting will become part of the University Galleries’ annual Sea Gull Century Print Artists Exhibit, held in connection with the Century. The winner receives $1,000.

All submitted works must contain a sea gull and a bicycle. Preference is given to landscapes that showcase Maryland’s Eastern Shore and paintings between 16 inches by 20 inches and 24 inches by 36 inches. Acceptable media include oil, acrylic, watercolor and combinations thereof. All entries must include a label on the back with the artist’s name, address, telephone number and title or location of the painting.

Pre-registration materials are due Monday, January 30. Entry deadline is noon Wednesday, March 1. The Sea Gull Century Committee will complete its review of submissions by Friday, March 3.
