SU Community Cleanup Project at Local Parks October 21

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---From 1-5 p.m. Friday, October 21, a group of Salisbury University students will spend their weekend afternoon doing something different–cleaning up garbage!

class=""MsoNormal"">With the advice of the Wicomico County Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Department the students chose two local parks in need of a clean-up project: Emerson Holloway and Indian Village Park, both in Salisbury. The Parks Maintenance Division donated the necessary materials for this cleanup, including trash bags, rubber gloves, brooms, and dust pans, said Leah Stephens, a member of the organizing committee.

class=""MsoNormal"">“Not only are the two parks in need of trash removal to make them clean places for children to play, but they are also littered with some potentially dangerous items, such as shards of glass.”

class=""MsoNormal"">The SU Community Cleanup Effort arose from a class assignment by Perdue School faculty Paula Morris. In her Promotions Management class, she allows students to execute and promote an event of their choice. For this group project, about a dozen students expressed their interest in cleaning up county parks in Salisbury. The SU Community Cleanup group invites other students and volunteers to work with them that day.  For more information call 410-543-6322. "
