Each season we tap into the vast resources of the Smithsonian Institution to present relevant, culturally accurate entertaining programs.  We offer dozens of interactive productions that feature puppets, storytellers, dancers, actors, musicians, and even mimes! Intern Duties:•General administrative tasks associated with theater production •Work closely with Artistic Director, Roberta Gasbarre, to help with her schedule and projects around the office.   •Attend meetings with other museum partners to work on educational programming.  Professional Development Opportunities: •The Intern in this position will be exposed to all areas of artistic administration including season planning, new play development & auditions/casting •If schedule permits, the intern will have the opportunity to act as the Assistant to the Director on a production/show. Qualifications: We seek candidates who have strong organizational and communication skills.   •Candidate should also be responsible, creative, personable and resourceful •Must have a professional demeanor, writing ability and internet research skills •Familiarity with computers, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint •A history or interest in theater and/or arts education and administration is a must!

Tips for application success:  Apply early; use standard English; proof your work; request and read the position description for the internship you are seeking before you apply; tailor your resume to the position being applied for; enter into SOLAA the names and email addresses of those two individuals who will write recommendations for you and then hit the Send button so they are notified; ensure all application materials are entered into SOLAA prior to hitting the Submit button.  A complete application consists of the application form, resume, writing sample, most recent transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.  If you have any questions, please write to TSAInternships@si.edu.  Summer internships are very competitive so apply early; applications started arriving in December. All TSA Internships are unpaid. College credit may be granted, but must be coordinated in advance with the intern's university/college. TSA offers internships in the winter-spring, summer, and fall. There are no application deadlines, but early submission is encouraged. Interns at the Smithsonian are required to undergo a security background investigation and fingerprinting through the Office of Protection Services before they are accepted into an internship.
