Job Title:  Media Relations/Broadcasting Intern - Aberdeen IronBirds! (2012091)


Description:   In this internship, you will learn how to assist in communication with the media, community, and general public to build and maintain good relationships and to ensure that the organization is being represented accurately and in a way that represents and reflects the standards of Ripken Baseball. The successful candidate will also assist with on-air play –by-play and color commentary of the Aberdeen IronBirds for IronBirds home games.

 You'll be trained to be able to: - Build and maintain relationships with key media and community outlets year round - Assist in drafting and dispersing Press Releases - Help coordinate and carry out appearances and interviews for organization members (coaches, players, mascot, etc) - Assemble and distribute Game Notes, Stat Packs, Rosters and Player Transactions for each game during the season - Prepare website and material and articles including game stories, roster updates, fan polls - Assist in planning, layout and production of the team Media Guide - Archive team history: Rosters, stats, results, record - Play-by-play/Color opportunities during IronBirds games - Opportunity to broadcast Cal Ripken World Series games - Arrange and conduct media interviews for the players and management of the team - Assisting the team where needed (including tarp pulls, etc.)


You will also gain valuable experience in the baseball industry, with full training provided and the opportunity to work closely with all members of the IronBirds/Ripken front office!


Qualifications: Required: - CURRENT COLLEGE STUDENT or MAY 2013 GRAD - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Strong organizational skills - Strong working knowledge of baseball and the baseball industry - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) - Major in broadcasting or related field - Prior sports broadcasting experience. - Proficiency in Radio Broadcasting and board operation. - Flexibility in schedule depending on the needs of the business


 Preferred: - Baseball broadcasting experience - Proficiency in Adobe Design Software (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator) - Proficiency in Spanish – verbal/written

 Working Conditions / Special Physical Requirements: - Routinely exposed to extreme hot/cold weather conditions
