Climate Action Plan

In 2007, SU signed the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment, pledging to move the University to zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Our Climate Action Plan was developed by students, faculty and staff in 2009 to make that goal a reality.

The Climate Action Plan is a framework that will shape the University's efforts over the coming 40 years, while being flexible enough to adjust to unanticipated technology, challenges and opportunities.

Read the original version, the 2014 update, and the 2021 update, then see how far we’ve progressed according to Second Nature, the organization overseeing the Climate Commitment.

Any Suggestions?

The Climate Action Plan is a living document that will be revisited regularly. The campus community is encouraged to review the 2014 document and provide suggestions to any member of the University Sustainability Committee. The committee will review suggestions, make decisions regarding modifications to the plan, and provide progress reports to the campus community via this web page.
