Professional Development at the Perdue School (BUAD 200, formerly BUAD 300)

• Agree to student code of conduct & review Student Behavior Policy.
• Complete online orientation module and related quiz
• Complete 2 writing assignments.
• Attend "THE Meeting"
• Attend 3 speaking events: (1) ELS -which is mandatory; (2) Career Services workshop; and (3) one additional event from the pre-approved list (Note: you must sign in for each to get credit!) NOTE: You must sign-up for MOST of these events by using Perdue Sign-Up Page.
• Attend 1 mandatory class session titled, "MBTI Workshop".
• Review entire ABLE module and complete quiz.
• Complete sexual harassment training
• Read assigned course material.

THE Meeting consists of 3 sessions: opening, breakout and resource. It is a requirement for students enrolled in BUAD 200. Students will attend the event in order to gather more information about the Perdue School of Business and what it has to offer.

Students will check-in and attend an opening session that includes an explanation of the event and remarks from the Associate Dean. Students are then split into two groups and released into either a break out session based on their major or the resource session. In their major breakout session, they hear from faculty who discuss what to expect from the classes they will be taking in the professional program. Students then have a chance to network with the faculty and ask questions. Also, each session is staffed with a Student Business Leader who can offer insight on the professional program from a student’s perspective. “I learned a lot about the accounting program and what to expect from the next few years in the business school”, says Bryan Marks, a current Perdue School student.

The resource session includes networking with fellow students; meeting with various club representatives; and connecting with the available resources on campus. Everything from SU Libraries to Study Abroad Programs are represented here. Students are treated to light refreshments and given the opportunity to learn about different clubs and resources available to Perdue students. Parris Stanford, a Student Business Leader, described this session as "Finding out how to leave your mark while here in Perdue!”. THE Meeting is an essential event for both learning about classes within the professional program and increasing student involvement here at Perdue. Come prepared to learn and meet your new professional classmates!

Minors should not enroll in BUAD 200 as they do not need the course (except Professional Sales). Those who do will be removed by the Registrar's office.

All students enrolled in BUAD 200 will receive more information via campus email prior to the beginning of the semester on how to get started on BUAD 200 requirements.
