Sunny skies and winning athletics competitions welcomed hundreds of parents, grandparents, siblings and friends visiting Salisbury University for Family Weekend, October 19-21. Many of them packed Sea Gull Stadium to watch the SU football team defeat Alfred University, 24-21, to remain unbeaten in the Empire 8 Conference. Afterward, the SU Parents and Family Association sponsored its annual ice cream social. Fans also saw men’s soccer top St. Mary’s College and celebrated the 2012 men’s lacrosse team at a special ring ceremony for its NCAA Division III championship.
On Saturday morning, SU families spanning multiple generations gathered for a legacy breakfast, while others attended informative sessions on study abroad and housing options. Students and their guests also enjoyed open classrooms, kayak excursions, a percussion performance by Plastic Musik, an original theatrical work, and special dining including the annual Recipes From Home Dinner and Sunday jazz brunch. The 2012 Golf Challenge capped off the festive weekend.
