Perdue School ERP Program Represented at Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum
Dr. Karen Papke-Shields, director of Enterprise Systems Studies and a professor in the Information and Decision Sciences Department, was one of three presenters at the Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum on March 16. She was invited to present as part of the talent acquisition and management program that day.
Her presentation focused on the ERP program that is part of the Perdue School of Business, including the courses offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and the SAP certification course offered twice a year to students who complete the ERP courses. The other presenters included Lily Mok from Gartner, Inc., who stressed the importance of IT professionals that understand the business as well as technology (the focus of the Perdue School ERP program) and Peter Coliukos, vice president of enterprise systems at Breakthru Beverage, who talked about the benefits of getting involved with universities such as Salisbury University as one approach to more effective talent acquisition.
A highlight of Karen’s presentation was when she introduced two of the Perdue School’s “products” – alumni of the Perdue School ERP program. Tim Higgins, senior associate at RSM US, LLP, and Nick Waters, financial systems analyst at Under Armour, were kind enough to take time out of their schedules to talk about how taking the ERP classes and completing the SAP ERP certification prepared them so that they started their jobs with an advantage over their peers.
