Bharatanatyam Indian Dance Classes Held at SU This Fall
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s dance class series continues Mondays, October 10-November 7, with instruction in Bharatanatyam Indian spiritual dancing.
Taught by instructor Moushumi Chakraborty, classes are 5 p.m. in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall. No experience or pre-registration is necessary. Comfortable clothing is recommended.
Indian classical dances, such as Bharatanatyam, are rooted in devotion. A majority originated as temple dances. Chakraborty teaches the classic dance forms as building blocks to choreograph a Rabindranath Tagore dance. Tagore was a noted Renaissance man in late 19th- and early 20th-century India, helping to reshape Bengali literature and music, and Indian art.
