Salisbury State University Hosts Annual Fall Golf Classic October 2SALISBURY, MD--Allied Investment Advisors, the trust division of First National Bank of Maryland, will again be the tournament sponsor of the 15th annual Salisbury State University Foundation Fall Golf Classic on Friday, October 2, at Green Hill Yacht and Country Club. The bank has contributed $6,000 to the University.
Other sponsors of the tournament are: Mason Paper Company, awards banquet sponsor; and the Daily Times, media sponsor; and over 100 team sponsors.
The purpose of the Golf Classic is to raise support for University programs, faculty research and development, cultural enrichment, library acquisitions, the SSU Honors Program and student scholarships.
The golfers with the low team score in the scramble format will have their names placed on the Presidents Cup.
Cash prizes will be given to the teams with the lowest scores for four flights, including mixed teams. Cash and merchandise prizes will be awarded for other low teams and to individuals for long drive on various holes and closest ball to the pin on par-3 holes.
The largest individual prizes will go to the golfers who score a hole-in-one on the par 3 8th or 11th holes. Price Buick- Pontiac will provide the 1999 Buick Century on the 8th hole; Sherwood-on-the-Shore will provide the 1999 Mercury Cougar on the 11th hole.
An added competition, will reward players who are most adept on the greens. Prior to the regular tournament a putting contest will feature one representative from each foursome. The contest will be sponsored by Castle in the Sand, Coastline Parts Company and Schmidt Baking Company.
The SSU Foundation, established for the encouragement and enrichment of education at the University, is incorporated as a voluntary association of community leaders solely for education, charitable and scientific purposes.
