Dr. Nan Baker Richerson is an adjunct faculty member at Salisbury University where she teaches applied and class piano. She holds graduate degrees from Louisiana State University (Ph.D. in Music Education/Piano Pedagogy) and Florida State University (M.M. Music Performance/Piano Pedagogy), has a B.M. in piano performance from Louisiana State University, and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through Music Teachers National Association.
Richerson has extensive experience teaching piano to students of all ages and ability levels, both privately and in a group setting. Prior to her work at Salisbury University, she was on the piano faculty at Gist Piano Academy in Lexington, KY, and was an Assistant Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, where she also directed the Community Music School Piano Division.
A frequent speaker on Recreational Music Making and effective instruction in the group piano setting, Dr. Richerson has recently presented at national and state conferences in Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Anaheim, CA, New York, NY, Boston, MA, Gallatin, TN, and Richmond, KY. She is on the editorial board of American Music Teacher, and is a member of the Pedagogy Saturday planning committee for the 2015 MTNA national conference.
