Information Literacy Partner of the Month

April/May 2015

Congratulations to Dr. Mark de Socio, Associate Professor of Geography and Geosciences, who is the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partner of the Month for April/May. Susan Brazer nominated him, noting:

Mark has started working with me to incorporate information literacy skills with his economic geography (GEOG 235) students, so that they develop a multitude of skills that will help them both in economics and geography. He has created an in-depth research project that requires them to pull together a variety of sources and create a company profile that analyzes the company in question on a number of levels. This is an exceptionally good project for a class at the 200-level and it will serve the students well as a fantastic foundation for advanced research skill-building in the future.
Susan Brazer Chair of Research/Instructional Services

It is for this willingness to creatively work with librarians to help his students develop a strong foundation of research skills that we have chosen Dr. Mark de Socio as the SU Libraries’ Information Literacy Partner of the Month for April/May.

In addition to recognizing Dr. de Socio on the SU Libraries’ website and social media, we also will purchase a book in his field of study to be added to the Libraries’ collection in his honor. Please join me in congratulating Mark de Socio.

Sincerely,

Dr. Bea Hardy
Dean of Libraries and Instructional Resources
