Employee Recognition Program

Employees of the Month

December 2015
Julie Golightly
Julie Golightly
Horticulturist
Physical Plant
Julie was nominated by a staff member for her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. The nomination recognizes “Julie entered the Horticulture department during a transitional time but hit the ground running returning her assigned zone to an acceptable appearance. Through her management and vision, Julie’s zone is constantly kept well maintained and attractive. She has not only made sure that the normal maintenance is kept up, but has improved the aesthetics of her area with the selection and addition of appropriate new plant material.” The nomination also states “Record keeping is a requirement to maintain our Arboretum status, but due to staffing changes and vacancies it had not been comprehensively updated for several years. Julie, on her own, has learned our existing plant record software and is working with the GIS department to use a newer software program. This new program will provide our students and guests information online on the various tree species we have throughout our campus. In addition, she is currently working with a student through the Green Fund initiative to obtain informational signage we can begin installing on campus for native plants and other types of planting beds.” In closing, “Julie seems to have a true love for the university, not only through her work ethic but her willingness to help other team members accomplish their goals.”
