Dawn Harner
Dawn Harner
Counselor
Counseling Center
Kathleen Scott, Ph.D., Director of the Counseling Center with the letters of support from a member of faculty and administration as well as students, nominated Dawn for extraordinary performance, creativity and teamwork. Dawn’s leadership and skillset are exemplary and interns and staff regularly seek her out for her expertise and judgment. She truly serves as a role model and is always willing to help others. Her genuine commitment to her profession is evident through her dedication and success with many key outreach programs and events, such as the depression screening program and the suicide prevention campaign. In addition, Dawn “has also doubled the size of the internship program in the Counseling Center and has established a premier field placement for master’s level students, primarily from the SU Social Work Department, that is unrivaled in Salisbury in terms of the professional development and clinical training that is provided to interns.” Through the identification of and working with outside resources and funding, Dawn successfully created a mental health training program for faculty, staff and students and was able to bring a nationally known speaker to campus, benefiting the entire SU community. Dr. Scott included in summation, [Dawn] “is an exceptional therapist, supervisor, administrator and colleague! She puts students first and is a collaborative and valued member of the Salisbury University community.”
