This position is based in Salisbury, MD. Founded in 1925, Salisbury University features a beautiful campus close to ocean beaches and the Chesapeake Bay and 2-3 hours from the metropolitan areas of Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Norfolk. SU offers 60 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs as well as doctoral degrees in education (literacy) and nursing practice and is consistently ranked among the nation’s top colleges and ‘best values’ by U.S. News and World Report, The Princeton Review, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance and other publications. SU has 435 full-time faculty members serving a student population of approximately 8700.
Primary Job Duties: The Director of Development (DOD) has an extensive donor prospect portfolio and oversees the major gift and development officers at Salisbury University. Responsibilities include the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors. The DOD also manages the major gift officers by providing oversight, support, feedback and evaluation of proposals, travel and stewardship.
Minimum Qualifications: 5-7 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree. Familiarity with donor management software and knowledge of various solicitation methods including planned giving is required.
Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral & written communication skills; Must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Leadership experience and familiarity with the donor management software, Advance, is desired.
This is a full-time, exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
