Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Building Automation Systems (BAS) Specialist in the Physical Plant department.
Primary Job Duties: Routinely monitor all building HVAC systems tied into the building automation systems (BAS) and make the necessary corrections and adjustments to match building requirements. Receive and analyze heating and cooling complaints, and any other energy related concerns from faculty, staff, students, maintenance mechanic logs, and any other sources (with an emphasis on customer service) and take corrective action through BAS, directing temperature control contractor or applicable SU staff in the resolution of the problem, in a timely manner. This is to include responding to calls after hours. Receive and analyze daily work orders, schedule of events, classroom schedules, weather projections, and miscellaneous requests making such corrections to BAS scheduling as may be necessary and to relay such schedules to a 24-hour Maintenance Mechanic team. Analyze buildings and operations to determine the optimum utilization of HVAC and control systems. Conduct in-house on-going commissioning activities utilizing the BAS. Take corrective action as necessary by working with temperature control contractor, facility engineer, energy manager or other SU personnel.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and three-to-five years of related experience.
Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred coursework or a degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, with an emphasis in Building Automation Technology or Controls Engineering. Familiarity with commercial BAS automatic temperature control systems is preferred. Knowledge of equipment controls/operation and testing equipment is preferred.
This is a full-time, exempt State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
