SU Can Help You Find Your Path

Telling us you are still deciding opens up a whole set of on-campus resources – from one-on-one advising, to a special orientation session for Exploratory Studies students, to career exploration tools.

There are over 40 majors and nearly 70 minors to explore, or you can create your own program through SU’s Interdisciplinary Studies Program.

Starting out as an Exploratory Studies student means you will be matched up with a professional advisor who specializes in helping students find an academic path that works for them.

SU staff have access to a Major Matcher tool that can suggest a good fit for you based on the classes you take, even as early as your first semester.

Some of SU’s most successful students started out in Exploratory Studies. These students have gone on to successfully complete degrees in all five of SU’s schools and colleges, including psychology, marketing, exercise science, biology and elementary education.

As a first-time freshman, you may join our Explorers Living Learning Community and spend your first semester discovering yourself and your possibilities while living with other still deciding students.

You can declare a major at any time in your first 45 credits. We encourage you to take advantage of resources and start planning early to give you the smoothest possible path to a degree and career you will love.

Each year, SU hosts over 300 employers who recruit our students. Many of them hire students from all majors across campus.

Research demonstrates that career success and engagement have much less to do with the major you choose than with having the right experiences in college – experiences like having professors who care about you as an individual, finding a mentor, and completing a long-term project related to your field of study. These high-impact experiences are what Salisbury University is famous for and where we excel.
