PRAXIS CORE and PRAXIS II are standardized tests administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
PRAXIS CORE: Candidates must successfully complete PRAXIS CORE before applying to the Professional Teacher Education Program. The MSDE equivalent scores (SAT or ACT) can be substituted for PRAXIS CORE. See your advisor for more information about passing score requirements. Official score reports must be provided to the Education Specialties department office, TETC 378.
PRAXIS II: Candidates must pass Praxis II before graduation. We recommend that you complete subject area content knowledge tests when you have completed all of your non-education major requirements. Pedagogy tests should be completed near the end of your methods courses or early in your student teaching semester. The PRAXIS II specialty tests are required for the certification areas and graduation. Official score reports must be provided to the Education Specialties department office, TETC 378 prior to graduation.
REGISTRATION: Registration must be completed on the ETS website. Paper PRAXIS exams can be taken at Salisbury University. On-line exams for PRAXIS CORE and some PRAXIS II tests can be scheduled at local prometric centers. See the ETS website for more information.
CERTIFICATION: Candidates apply for certification after successfully competing SU graduation requirements. An official transcript and passing scores are required for licensure in Maryland. Find out more about Maryland and other state licensing requirements here.
