Mentor Network

• There are over 600 Mentors willing to help students/alumni with any career-related concern they may have.  Student MentorsThe Mentor Network is about students meeting alumni who can help them with career-related issues that are of interest to them. Whether students are exploring career options, looking for advice about jobs/internships, or hunting for an apartment in a new area, using the Mentor Network is a great way to get started. Other activities students need help with are resume reviews, cover letter help, job and internship advice, information about your employer, shadowing a mentor, etc.  As a Mentor, you can choose which services you are willing to help a student with.  Typically most of your conversations with students will be via email.

The following pictures are of SU MENTORS who have volunteered to assist SU students with various career-related questions.  The Mentor Hall of Fame is dedicated to those alumni who are part of this outstanding resource.

SU Mentor Network Terms of Agreement:

The Salisbury University Career Center is committed to complying with the ethical standards of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and expects students and employers to be honest and professional in the internship and job search process.

All students and alumni who choose to participate in Career Center services such as the Mentor Network and Student Employment services must abide by the following agreement. By logging into the Career Center's online system, GradLeaders, you are indicating that you will adhere to the following standards:

As an SU Mentor, you are expected to abide by our code of conduct:

Mentor Expectations:

  • Abide by all applicable Salisbury University polices. I understand that my failure to do so may result in my inability to continue to serve as an SU mentor.
  • I know I am expected to complete and maintain a current mentor profile with the SU Mentor program, updating contact information and work history when changes occur.
  • Act with integrity by responding to all correspondence (i.e., telephone calls, email or letters) from staff, students or alumni in a timely manner, ideally within 5 business days.
  • Maintain a career/academic-focused relationship with student participants, avoiding all situations that could be perceived as unprofessional or improper.
  • Exercise patience and understanding with students or alumni at different developmental or career-related stages.
  • Communicate honestly but respectfully with students, alumni and staff.
  • Notify appropriate staff, students or alumni if you are unable to maintain a commitment.
  • Provide timely feedback to Salisbury University staff about the program, participants and my experiences.
  • Report to the SU Career Services staff any misconduct, criminal activity or other concerns that are reported to you by a mentee or that otherwise arise during the course of your participation in the program.
  • Be proud of being an SU mentor for helping others in their career development.
  • Provide accurate and honest information on my profile, resume and job search documents and in my interactions with employers. Examples include but are not limited to GPA, major and student status. Any information provided and all usage of my account will accurately reflect my identity.
  • Keep ALL interview appointments with students/alumni or notify  the Career Center in advance of any emergency requiring me to cancel my commitment. I understand that I must cancel or reschedule interviews in advance. I understand that late cancellations require an apology email or phone call to the student/alumni, and that the Career Center must be copied or notified.
*The Career Center may decline to allow an individual to volunteer as an SU mentor for any reason.  The Career Center may choose to end an individual's participation in the Mentor program at any time, for any reason.​
