FAFSA Important Dates
Students, did you know FAFSA is available to complete for next year’s Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters? Starting October 1, 2019 students and their families can log into FAFSA Website and file the FAFSA using 2018 tax information.
Here are 5 things to keep in mind when completing the FAFSA:
- Gather your FSA ID, 2018 W-2 forms, 2018 tax returns, and asset information. More documents may be needed depending on your circumstance. On average, the FAFSA takes 30 minutes to complete.
- If eligible, utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to safely import your 2018 tax information. The data retrieval tool makes the process a lot easier and reduces the chances of being selected by U.S. Department of Ed for verification.
- Priority funding deadline for SU institutional aid and MD state aid is March 1st, as some aid funds will be awarded on a first come-first served basis. View other state deadlines.
- Provide Salisbury University’s federal school code (002091) on the FAFSA to ensure SU receives your FAFSA information.
You can check the status of your online FAFSA immediately and you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in a few weeks after submission. SU will use this information to calculate your awards at the conclusion of the Spring 2020 semester.
