Moving Forward Together - Next Steps

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

Last Friday, I met with student, faculty and staff leaders to discuss concerns about bias, discrimination and safety on campus following racially and sexually charged graffiti discovered in Fulton Hall. We discussed ideas and solutions and I want to make sure that we are communicating that information as we continue to move forward.

We have developed this list of long-term initiatives to address campus communication, security and inclusiveness:

  • We are encouraging increased participation in Salisbury University’s text message-based notification system (in addition to the campus’ emergency alert systems)

To sign up, please go to:

  • The Salisbury University Police Department (SUPD) will be installing more cameras in addition to the 750 already in place on campus as well as upgrading existing cameras

  • SUPD is increasing the number of emergency preparation trainings on campus and encouraging more students, faculty and staff to attend

  • We will hold regularly scheduled campus community meetings, providing faculty, staff and students with more opportunities to express their concerns

  • SU’s administration will hold monthly office hours.  (If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact the email addresses below.)

    • President: Fourth Wednesday of each month from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs and Provost: First Friday of each month, from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon
    • Vice President, Student Affairs: Third Thursday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Vice President, Administration and Finance: Third Wednesday of each month, from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Vice President, Advancement and External Affairs: Second Wednesday of each month between 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Chief of Staff: First Wednesday of each month, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
    • General Counsel: Second Wednesday of each month, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    • Associate Vice President, Institutional Equity: Second Friday of each month, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • University Staff are working to update imagery in SU buildings to better reflect the campus’ current population
  • I am forming a task force comprised of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to assist in receiving input and provide feedback

Thank you,

Charles A. Wight
