Open Enrollment Process

  • Summary statements will not be included in your Open Enrollment packet. Current benefit elections can be viewed in Workday (SPS).
  • All employees and retirees will use Workday (SPS) to make benefit selections.
  • If you are adding a new spouse/dependent to your coverage, then documentation will need to be uploaded into Workday during Open Enrollment.
    • If acceptable documentation is not uploaded during Open Enrollment, then the spouse/dependent will not have coverage for 2020.
    • For a list of acceptable documents based on relationship, please refer to the 2020 Benefits Guide (p. 39) under the heading “Enrolling Eligible Dependents”.
    • Documentation must be uploaded to the Open Enrollment event.
    • Review your list of current dependents before adding a new dependent. This will reduce duplicate entries.
  • There is no correction period for election changes. Enrollment selections will be finalized with data on file as of the close of Open Enrollment on November 14, 2019 at 11:59 pm.
    • The Employee Benefits Division will not provide any exceptions to the deadline including technical difficulties.
  • The Employee Benefits Division will communicate with you through Workday. Emails will be sent to your work email address with any follow-up items.  This is especially important if you are adding a new spouse or dependent to your coverage.
  • Any current open life events (new hire/ birth/ loss in coverage, etc.) need to be finalized before you can access your Open Enrollment event.
