Salisbury University Children's Choir

The Salisbury University Children’s Choir is a newly formed regional choir. The choir is open to children ages 9-15 and is a treble-voiced choir. The SU Children’s Choir is an inclusive and diverse group providing children an opportunity to perform a wide variety of choral literature.

Learning goals for participants include:

  • healthy vocal technique
  • increasing vocal skill
  • developing musicianship
  • developing leadership skills
  • gaining social skills in working with others

The choir is under the direction of Alice Wigfield who has many years of experience in developing high-quality children’s vocal groups and her voice students have been consistently chosen for advanced auditioned choirs.

The SU Children’s Choir also serves as a lab choir for students majoring in Music Education at SU.

Children participating in the SU Children’s Choir will receive high-quality instruction in a safe, supportive, and caring environment.

Is your child interested in participating?

For any child interested in participating, a parent/guardian will need to make a Voice Placement appointment.

Children should come prepared to sing any song of their choice (accompaniment is not needed). Mrs. Wigfield will also determine each child’s vocal range and check their ability to match pitches. For children who have difficulty with matching pitches or singing accurately, we recommend getting a little more experience with using their voice before making an appointment.

Make a Voice Placement appointment

Parents/Guardians are not to submit payment for the semester until their child has had a Voice Placement appointment and they have received notice that their child has been accepted into the program.

Where? When?

The Children’s Choir schedule follows the SU fall and spring semester calendars. The choir is a semester-based program. Children may opt to be in both the fall and spring semesters or they may choose to participate in one semester.

Rehearsals are held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in Fulton Hall on the campus of Salisbury University.

Cost for the participating is $150.00 per semester with a discount for multiple children from the same family
