The Delmarva peninsula is a magnet for retirees with its attractive beaches and affordable housing. This initiative is to enable design, development and adoption of best practices of universal design that will aid senior citizens in living independently. The rapid growth of energy efficient, sustainable housing warrants a central repository that will disseminate valuable solutions to developers, home buyers and other real estate stakeholders. Finally, this initiative aims to provide basic financial literacy education to home buyers. Tools to make appropriate financing choice so that buyers are not over-burdened with overtly complex mortgages, refinancing decisions will be made available.
The objectives are:
- To facilitate and fulfill the regional real estate professional research needs
- To enable internships, career opportunities in real estate for our students in the form of mentorships and internships
- To foster applied learning research that will benefit our students, faculty and the community
- To act as a clearing house for the best practices in sustainable housing
