BEACON is:

A Community Outreach Unit of the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University. For over 30 years, BEACON has offered applied business and economic and assistance to a verity of public, private, and non-profit organizations.
A Multifaceted Research and Consulting Organization offering in-depth analysis for business, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. BEACON can quickly assemble the expertise required to identify underlying challenges and recommend appropriate actions.
A Student-Based Experiential Learning Environment where students gain real-world experience under the careful supervision of faculty and staff. BEACON's focus is on delivering innovative solutions to project sponsors while guiding students in applying what they learn in the classroom, to these projects.
A Network Organization, bringing together a wide range of University and community-based resources, organizations, and individuals, on a project-by-project basis.

In line with the Mission and Strategic Plan elements of the Perdue School, Salisbury University, and the University System of Maryland, BEACON helps prepare students for lifelong success, while enhancing the region's business and economic development activities.

BEACON Initiatives

Bienvenidos a Delmarva

Bienvenidos a Delmarva is a regional network of over 70 service-providing organizations that collaborates to address common challenges and issues related to our region's non-native-born population. The network focuses on capacity enhancement and service improvements in a variety of areas including cultural competency, language, education, healthcare access, transportation, housing, and legal aid.

GraySHORE

GraySHORE is a regional coalition of over 100 private, public, and non-profit organizations that focuses on our region's older adults. Some of the issues addressed by the coalition include: Elder Care, Elder Shelter, Older Employees, Older Adults as Entrepreneurs, Caregivers to Older Adults, Retirement, Finances of Older Adults, and Older Adults as Crime Victims.

ShoreTRENDS

ShoreTRENDS is a regional business, economic, and demographic data resource that is updated quarterly. In addition to these, ShoreTRENDS data sets include education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and community outreach for all of the Eastern Shore counties.
