General Education Requirements

Step 1: Find your advisor

  • Log into Gullnet
  • Go to: Home > Self Service > Student Center > Advisor

Step 2: Print out your checklist

This is an excellent reference for planning your future semesters. Note that there are 2 IS major checklists – one for those in a catalog prior to 2014-2015 and another for students in the 2014-2015 or later catalog.

Step 3: Review your Academic Requirements Report

  • Log into Gullnet
  • Go to: Home > Self Service >Student Center > Academic Requirements Report (from the drop down menu).
  • Review your Academic Requirements Report
  • Check all of your completed and in-progress graduation requirements.
  • Compare this report with the checklist above.
  • Use this report to help you determine the classes you need for next semester

Step 4: Check the course offerings

Make sure to check the course pre-requisites and the appropriate checklist in Step 2.

Step 5: Plan your courses for the next semester

ONLY for pre-professional students:

  • Download pre-professional e-checklist
  • Complete it and save it in your computer
  • You will be asked to attach it with the Program Planning form below

All students:

  • Complete the Program Planning form and electronically submit it
  • A copy is emailed to you and your advisor as a PDF attachment.

Step 6: Make an advising appointment

If you anticipate graduating in May 2018, you MUST choose Option 2 and bring the completed Graduation Advising Review Sheet to your advisor.

Option 1: Virtual Advising

  • If you are confident in your course selection, you must email your advisor and request virtual advising.
  • You advisor will review your entries and contact you if changes are needed, activate your registration record when everything is in order, and notify you via email as to when you may register for classes.
  • Your advisor may request a meeting if she/he has questions regarding the information you have provided.

Option 2: Make a face-to-face Advising Appointment

  • You must be prepared for this meeting by having already completed and submitted your Program Planning Form at least 24 hours prior to the appointment
  • Log into Gullnet
  • Click ON CAMPUS APPOINTMENT link
  • Select Department Calendar – Academic Advising (magnifying glass)
  • Select Appointment Reason – Academic Advising (magnifying glass)
  • Select Faculty/Staff Name – Select My Name (magnifying glass)
  • You will then see a list of available appointments. Click View All to see all available appointments.
    • October 9 - October 13: Priority Advising for 56+ credits

    • October 16 - October 20: Priority Advising for under 56 credits

  • Find the appointment time you desire and click the Schedule button.
  • A pop-up box will appear stating that a Confirmation Email has been sent to you.
  • Review your email for appointment details, such as date and time.

Winter 2018

Summer registration begins on March 28 at 7:00 am. You do not need your account activated to register.
