April 9, 2013:
Wellness @ SU presents David Mercier
Members of the Campus Community,
As part of our Wellness @ SU Program, I invite you to join me for a special evening with author, life coach and acupuncturist, David Mercier. Most of us experience daily stress caused by the many demands of school, work, family, friends and other obligations. Our ability to deal with that stress and bring balance to our lives is often the determinant of our physical and mental wellbeing. Through his book, A Beautiful Medicine – A Radical Look at the Essence of Health and Healing, Mr. Mercier brings new perspective to health, disease, and wellness and our ability “to transform into the best human beings possible – physically, psychologically, and spiritually.”
Mr. Mercier will discuss his book and wellness ideas and take questions from the audience. A book signing will follow. Free books will be available to the first 50 attendees.

February 19: Wellness @ SU: Heart Health Fair
February is American Heart Month. Please join us on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 for a Heart Health Fair. The Fair will be held in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall from 10:00am – 2:00pm. Various screening services (blood pressure, body mass, and bone density testing) will be provided, as well as overall health, nutrition and exercise information. Sammy the Sea Gull is also supporting our health initiative, so he will be flying in around 11:30am.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women. However, there are many preventive measures that can be taken to reduce the risk factors for heart disease. In the United States, someone has a heart attack every 34 seconds and each minute, someone dies from a heart disease-related event. There is only one YOU, so take the time to understand the risk factors for heart disease and what you can do to establish or maintain a healthy lifestyle.
We hope to see you there!
