Cascade CMS Version 8 How To...

Replace a File (PDF, Word, etc.)

If the new file's name will be the same...

If the file name will remain the same - that is - the file you are uploading to replace the current file has the same name as the current file - there are three steps:

  1. Login to Cascade Server CMS, browse to the file's location, mouseover the file and click the file name.

  2. Next, upload the new file: click “Drop a file here or choose one from your computer”, browse to the file on your computer or network drive, click “Open”, then click "Save & Preview" to bring the file into the CMS. Note: you can also drag and drop the new file right on the page.
  3. Click the “Publish” tab and click “Local Filesystem” and then "Submit" to publish the new file to the public server.

If the new file's name will NOT be the same...

If the file name will NOT remain the same - that is - the file you are uploading to replace the current file has a different name as the current file:

  1. Rename the current file to the same name as the new file.
  2. Follow steps 1, 2, and 3 above.

Renaming the file first will update all the links to that file. So when you replace it, there are no links pointing to the old file.

End.
