ENGL 356 Grading Rubric for Presentation Assignments

Your grade for this assignment will be broken down as follows:

Class Presentation: 40%
Analytic Short Essay: 60%

The Class Presentation, in the most general terms, will be graded as follows:

• Content: does the presentation cover the relevant content from the textbook? (40%)
• Clarity: does the presentation present the content clearly, rearranging if necessary to improve the coherence of the points the presenters find most relevant? (40%)
• Delivery: does the presentation demonstrate an ease and familiarity with the material covered? (20%)

The Analytic Short Essay, in the most general terms, will be graded as follows:

• Topic: is the thesis adequately narrow and articulated? (10%)
• Content: does the argument marshal the appropriate historical and textual evidence to make its point? (40%)
• Argument: is the argument itself logical and sequential? (30%)
• Style and mechanics: is the paper clear, analytic and academic in tone, and rhetorically persuasive? (20%)
