Claire Brisendine studies painting within the Art department, in addition to her two minors—Theatre and English (with a film concentration). She is especially interested in directing documentaries and dramas someday, and she plans to get a Master’s degree in directing when she has completed her undergraduate work. In her free time, Claire takes ballet classes and trains for an upcoming cross country biking trip. On her bike trip she is most looking forward to biking through the desert.

Aside from working at the University Writing Center, she also works for the IT department; performs volunteer work; and is secretary for the Truth social club at SU, which is a multicultural club that promotes ethnic unity. She likes to go to the gym and is a huge movie fan (comedies and horror movies are her favorite).

Carlena Mattiello, a member of the Class of 2008, is majoring in Public Relations with a double minor in Marketing and Business and Professional Writing. Though she has not fully decided her future plans, she knows she would love to work somewhere south. Also, she is considering law school and is studying for the February LSATs. Carlena is an active member of Lambda Pi Eta, a Communications Honor Society, and she is a university host. Last year, she joined the SU Gun Club and the Fishing Club. She also volunteers for causes such as the Relay for Life, the Wicomico Humane Society, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Nathan McSparron is a senior, studying in the field of Secondary Education, concentrating in English. He hopes to work as a teacher immediately after graduating from SU and looks forward to finishing the remainder of his studies here. Currently, he is an intern at Wicomico High School and especially appreciates teaching because younger students look up to him. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar, snowboarding, playing video games, and spending time with his friends. Nathan's past employment has ranged from babysitting to retail to construction, and he is very pleased to work in the University Writing Center as a consultant.
