(UTS) is actually three departments which provide services in all
areas of the campus. Information Technology, Media Services, and Technical Purchasing
make up UTS. Over 45 staff members cover areas including:
academic computing, administrative computing,
telecommunications, the Helpdesk, the residential network,
campus email, the campus web site and servers, classroom
technology, and video services.
UTS operates fourteen computer labs, a television studio, supports
distance education and teleconferencing, provides network access at over
10,000 network ports, hosts a web site including over
80,000 web pages,
services over 17,000 email accounts, operates an in house telephone
system, and even supports the campus cyber cafe.
Our IT Plan tells a great deal about what we are up to and where we are
going. Our focus for the past few years has been the
implementation of the PeopleSoft suite of products. This has enabled
students and faculty to "serve themselves" 24x7 in many areas. In the
next few years the focus will be on more web based services, media
development and the construction of the new Teacher Education and
Technology Center. You can learn more about who we are and what we do by
visiting the individual departments in the frame at the left.
In the fall 2008 we opened the
Integrated Media Lab in the new Teacher Education and Technology
Center. This 18,500 sft. multimedia lab includes an HD
video studio, 24 channel audio recording studio, 15 video editing
suites and much more.
