Bobbi Biron Theatre Scholarship

This is awarded (up to $2,000) to an incoming freshman theatre major with declared track who has achieved a 3.0 GPA and shown outstanding dedication and exceptional promise in theatre. To be considered:

  • Submit an online application to SU Admissions. Deadline: Freshman Early Action December 1 and Freshman Regular Decision January 15.
  • Review the Guidelines (PDF).
  • Confirm an audition time and complete the online Audition Form. Deadline: Friday January 22, 2010.
  • Complete the required performance or portfolio audition followed by an interview. Audition: Saturday January 30, 2010 beginning at 10 a.m.

The scholarship is credited to the student's account. The recipient may qualify for annual renewal if the stipulations and requirements are met, including a full-time load, 3.0 GPA, contribution to all productions under the guidance of the theatre artistic director, and serving as a student representative to and for the theatre program and the department. For more information, contact the department at 410-543-6278.

Gerald and Bette Jane Patt Scholarship in Theatre

This is awarded (up to $300) to an incoming freshman theatre major with declared track who has achieved a 3.0 GPA and shown outstanding achievement and promise in theatre. The scholarship is credited to the student's account. The recipient may qualify for annual renewal if the stipulations and requirements are met, including a full-time load, 3.0 GPA, contribution to all productions under the guidance of the theatre artistic director, and serving as a student representative to and for the theatre program and the department. For more information, contact the department at 410-543-6278.

Leland Starnes Memorial Award in Theatre

A monetary award is presented each year at Honors Convocation to a theatre major whose work has demonstrated artistic growth, professionalism and, foremost, a pursuit of excellence.

Joanne Young Award in Theatre

Monetary awards are presented each year at Honors Convocation to two theatre majors who have demonstrated hard work, dependability and dedication to the art and craft of theatre.

National Dance Association Outstanding Dance Minor Award

A certificate is presented each year at Honors Convocation to an outstanding dance minor who demonstrates scholarship, participation, and leadership in dance. To be eligible, a student must possess a 3.0 overall grade point average and a 3.3 grade point average in dance courses, have completed at least 15 semester hours in the discipline, be currently enrolled in a dance course, and hold membership in the SU Dance Company.
