SU Dance Company Audition

Monday August 31, 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Maggs 168 Dance Studio

Required Dress Code: black leotard and convertible tights, hair tied back, flat ballet slippers.

 

The SU Dance Company entrance audition is required for new and returning members on the first Monday of fall and spring semesters. Previous dance training is required; performance experience is desired.  Download, complete, and bring three single-page (two-sided) copies of the Dance Audition Form (PDF). All dancers must arrive warmed-up, sign-in outside the Maggs Center Dance Studio to receive an audition number, and submit copies of the Dance Audition Form. Brief ballet, jazz and modern dance combinations will be learned and performed in small groups. Auditions are based on appearance, technique, musicality, and ability to pick up quickly.

DANCE COMPANY ROSTER

The company roster will be posted here on Tuesday morning, September 1. Accepted students are required to add, and will be emailed a permission number for, DANC 106 Dance Company (1.0). A $15 course fee will be billed to the student account. Only registered students are eligible to participate in the Fall Showcase Casting Audition on Wednesday, September 2, 4:30-6:30pm.  The fall dance production runs Wednesday-Saturday, November 11-14. Fulton Hall Black Box Theatre

 

Casting auditions will be held for two fall productions: Private Lives by Noel Coward and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens adapted by Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer. Faculty, staff, students and the community are invited, and theatre majors required, to audition.

To prepare, review the online scripts (see below). Download, complete, and bring three single-page (two-sided) copies of the Theatre Audition Form (PDF). All actors must sign-in at the Fulton Hall Box Office to receive an audition number, submit copies of the Theatre Audition Form, and be prepared to have a digital photo taken. Auditions are based on readings, attitude, flexibility, and set body types to present a variety of character forms.

Actors auditioning for Private Lives should expect to do a cold reading from the script (PDF) and an impromptu acting exercise. The production runs October 9-11 and 15-18. For more information, contact the director, Robert Smith, at 410-548-4777 or rwsmith@salisbury.edu.

for both productions will be posted here on Friday morning, September 4, which is also the last  day to add THEA 125 Theatre Practicum for 1-2 hours of rehearsal, performance, and production credit. For more information, contact the instructor, Dr. Dave Shuhy; a permission number is required to add THEA 125.

 

Costume measurements for both casts will be taken on Tuesday September 8th at 7 p.m. in the Costume Shop Fulton Hall 105A.  Immediately after, rehearsals for Private Lives will begin.
