Study Abroad Opportunities
Internships Study Abroad in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Beijing,
China and Auckland, New Zealand
Interns at Salibury University have an opportunity to teach in 3
of the most prestigious schools in the world. Each school has
unique features and will provide the interns with an enriching,
life-changing educational opportunity. No one is better than
another; each one offers the top of the line instruction using
the most effective teaching strategies. All three schools
provide the children with opportunities to develop self-respect
and independence while engaging in investigation and
exploration. Please view the video about the international

International Intern video.Internships in
St. Croix, the Virgin Islands:
Each spring and fall 2 interns will be able to spend one of
their SU internships on the island of St. Croix. This U.S.
Territory will host our SU interns at the Good Hope School. The
school offers best practices in early childhood and elementary
education, featuring student-centered learning that occurs both
inside and outside the classroom. In order to maximize the
experiences of the interns while in St. Croix, they will stay
with a host family who is connected with the school. For more
information, contact Dr. Laura Marasco at
llmarasco@salisbury.edu.

Internships in Beijing, China:
Each spring 4 or 5 of our SU interns will be able to intern at
the international school in Beijing, China. This
English-speaking school hosts children from 54 countries and is
one of the top 10 International Baccealaureate Schools (IBO) in
the world. Inquiry learning is the main mode of teaching. The
teachers in the school will help interns learn how to navigate
in Beijing and show them many of the amazing historical sites.
Interns will share an apartment near the school. For more
information, contact Dr. Patricia Dean at
pkdean@salisbury.edu.

Internships in Auckland, New Zealand:
In both the fall and spring semesters, interns will be able to
intern in schools in Auckland, NZ. Summer internships are also
available, but the 100 days required in MD still applies; the
remaining time of the internship will be completed in MD
schools either before or after the summer experience. One of the
many strengths of the NZ schools is their focus and successes in
literacy. The homestay with a host family during the internship
will provide meals and transportation throughout the duration of
the stay. For more information, contact Dr. Ernie Bond at
elbond@salisbury.edu.
